In Northern Vietnam, there are 54 recognized ethnic groups.  Many of these tribes are located north of Hanoi and Sa Pa in villages named Lo Chai, Bac Ha, and Mu Cang Chai. Each tribe maintains its own dress and cultural behaviors. They occupy small farming areas often with a nearby town that provides for commercial products.

Traveling through rice field mountain two-lane roads, these tribes meet once a year in Bắc Hà to race their miniature horses - which when not racing are used for farming.
